Lu Michael Barbuto - President and CEO
Dr. Barbuto founded the Company in 1989. He has a very
strong combination of successful business acumen and health issue expertise.
He has sat on various health industry advisory boards and associations
and in 1992 he won the award for Ontario Chiropractor of the Year. His
book, the Back Power Program, was selected as the “Premier Back Program”
by the United States National Safety Council and the program has been
used by most workers compensation boards throughout Canada. His background
includes lecturer, co-author of several medical texts, and consultant
to the Workers Compensation Board and other organizations.
KC Lim – Chairman of the Board
Mr. Lim is the President and CEO of KarbonStream Corporation,
a company he founded in January, 2010. KarbonStream designs, builds and
sells enabling devises for testing and assessment in the educational market.
Previously, he was the Managing Director of Pluris Advisory Inc. (“Pluris”),
a company which he co-founded in November 2004 and ran until December,
2009. Pluris specialized in strategic and corporate finance advisory services.
Prior to co-founding Pluris, Mr. Lim assisted in setting up Bank of Montreal
Capital Corporation, the venture capital arm of the Bank of Montreal and
acted as the Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director from October
1995 to April 2004. Mr. Lim has sat on the boards of directors of numerous
private and public companies. He obtained his Masters of Arts degree from
Lakehead University in 1978. He is a member of the Canadian Venture Capital
Association.
John G. McLaughlin
Mr. McLaughlin is the president of Tall Oak Management
Inc., a privately held management and investment company and sits on the
Board of Leisureworld Senior Care Corporation. From 1984 to 2002 he was
with Extendicare Canada Inc. During this time he acted as President &
Chief Operating Officer of Extendicare Canada Inc. (one of the largest
providers of nursing and rehabilitation services in the United States)
and as Managing Director (Chief Executive Officer) of Extendicare (UK)
Ltd. (one of the largest providers of nursing home and acute care hospital
businesses in that country). He currently is on the board of and sits
as the Chair of Futuremed Healthcare Income Fund, a publicly traded income
trust. Mr. McLaughlin brings a wealth of senior management experience
to the Board of Directors of the Corporation.
Marc Kealey
Mr. Kealey is the President of Freeman Mandel Milne
& Kealey (“FMMK”) currently providing services for companies doing
business in Eastern Europe, Asia, and North America. FMMK provides advice
and implements programs for domestic and international clients, including
governments and large infrastructure organizations. From February 2004
to 2007, he was the Chief Executive Officer for the Ontario Pharmacists
Association. During his tenure he increased government awareness of pharmacists,
demonstrated in several legislative initiatives in Ontario including:
Bill 102 (Transparent Drug System for Patients Act), Bill 171, HPRAC and
increased funding for chronic disease management. From 1997 to 2000 he
acted as Senior Vice President for Veritas Communications Inc., Toronto,
ON. Previously he was a consultant doing projects in the Northwest Territories,
Cuba, Dominican Republic and Latin America. He was the first Canadian
to successfully negotiate a large scale energy infrastructure program
in Cuba.
David Kassie
David Kassie is the Group Chairman of Canacfcord Genuity.
From 2004 until 2010, he was the Chairman and CEO of Genuity Capital Markets.
Previously he was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CIBC World
Markets and the Vice Chairman of CIBC. Mr. Kassie has extensive experience
as an advisor, underwriter and principal. He sits on a number of corporate
boards. Mr. Kassie is actively involved in community and charitable organizations
and is on the boards of the Hospital for Sick Children, the Ivey School
of Business and the Toronto International Film Festival Group. Mr. Kassie
holds a B.Comm. (Honours) in Economics from McGill University and an MBA
from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western
Ontario.
Sidney Braun
Sidney Braun is the CEO of ROMlight International (Canada)
Inc. He was the President and COO of Med-Emerg International from 2004
to 2006. Prior to joining Med-Emerg International, Mr. Braun was an advisor
to Poalim/IBI Capital Markets, a leading investment bank in Israel, covering
European financial markets. Mr. Braun had for some years previously acted
as the local representative for Raphael Zorn Helmsley, a UK investment
bank, assisting taking Israeli companies public on the AIM stock exchange
in London, England.
